Paperweights, etc.
These 2 pieces are the result of many, many, hours of development. The process begins by creating the glass mandalas that are floating within the solid block of glass. The mandala patterns are handmade by first creating pattern bars which are then thinly sliced. These slices are carefully ground to the appropriate size, and then laid out into the symmetric pattern. They are then fused and arranged in a way that they are positioned at different levels within 16 to 20 layers of glass. After the final fusing is complete, the edges of the "block" are ground and polished to a crystal clear finish. The piece on the left is about 12 inches tall, just less than 2 inches thick, and weighs almost 15 pounds. The piece on the right is 9 inches square, about 2 inches thick and weighs almost 13 pounds.

Below are paperweights that incorporate the same technique. These are 4 inches square , about one and a half inches thick, and weigh just over 2 pounds each.

"Triangulism" : This is the latest of the multi-layered fused creations. Using the technique described below, three glass mandalas have been fused within 16 layers of glass, then the block has been beveled and polished. The background glass is embossed to add a subtle detail. "Trianglulism" is 10" high, 7.5" wide, and 1.75" thick.
